Bible Video: Thou Art the Christ, the Son of the Living God

Scripture: Matthew 16:13-19

In this Bible video, Jesus asked His apostles who people thought he was. They told him that some of the people thought He was “John the Baptist”, some thought He was “Elias” or “Jeremias or one of the prophets” (Matthew 16:14) Then, Christ wanted to know whom His apostles thought that He was.

More About this Video: (continued from above)

John, without hesitation proclaimed, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God”. Jesus knew that Peter wasn’t just saying those words because of his logical knowledge. He know that it had been revealed to Peter from God that Jesus was the Son of the living God.

Do we believe that Jesus is the Son of the Living God? If we are a little lacking in faith, we can know as did Peter that Jesus truly is the son of God. If we study our scriptures diligently and pray with real intent, we can know that Jesus lived, and that He is our Savior and redeemer. After Peter testified of Jesus’ divinity, Jesus said, blessed art thou Peter…and upon this rock (meaning the rock of revelation which had testified to Peter that Jesus was God’s Son) will I build my church. Jesus then gave Peter the sealing power (Matthew 16:19) which is the power to bind couples and families together not only “‘til death do you part” but for time on this earth and for all eternity in heaven. Now, some of you reading this may think that you don’t want to be with your spouse for all eternity. Here is an important thing to remember. All of us and our spouses will have the opportunity in the next life to become perfected. That means that we won’t have annoying habits or do things just to spite our spouse. We will be kind, loving generous and perfected. So, if you can’t imagine being with your spouse forever, picture him or her on their best day and realize they they will be an even more amazing person in heaven once they are perfected.
