Bible Video: Other Sheep

Scripture: John 10:1-18

In this Bible video, Jesus talks about being the “good shepherd” (John 10:11) and loving His sheep and giving His life for them. He shares how he knows each of His sheep by name and how much He truly cares for His sheep. Jesus does know us each by name and loves us and wants us to come unto Him (Matthew 11:28).

More About this Video: (continued from above)

This video and corresponding scripture verses also talk about “other sheep”. Jesus said, “And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd” (John 10:16). When Jesus taught of the “other sheep”, many of His disciples thought he was talking about the Gentiles, so they could receive His teachings. However, in Acts 10, Jesus commands Peter and the apostles to take the gospel to the gentiles. In other words, Jesus didn’t take His gospel to the gentiles, however His apostles did. So, what did the “other sheep” refer to? See more below…

The “other sheep” Jesus talked about were the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. They were the “other sheep” that should “hear [His] voice”. We know this because in ancient plates found in the Americas (translated and called the Book of Mormon), Jesus appeared to the people in the Americas and said unto them, “And verily I say unto you, that ye are they of whom I said: Other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. And they understood me not, for they supposed it had been the Gentiles; for they understood not that the Gentiles should be converted through their preaching” (3 Nephi 15:20-21). The ancient inhabitants of America were the “other sheep”. To order your own copy of the Book of Mormon and read it for yourself, fill out the form to the right. It is true. It is the word of God and it is a complement to the Bible. Both testify of Jesus Christ and his mission as the Savior of the World. You too can know if it is true by studying it and praying to God to know if it is true.
