Bible Video: I Am the Light of the World
Scripture: John 8:12-58
In this Bible video, Jesus declares, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). He then tells us that if we follow Him, we will walk in the light and not in the darkness. Just like if we walk in a room full of darkness, there is a good chance we will trip and bump into things; if we don’t follow Christ, we will be in spiritual darkness and run into “spiritual bumps” that will hinder our progress through life.

More About this Video: (continued from above)
After Jesus declared those words, the Pharisees (leaders of the Jews conspiring to kill Jesus), accused Him of bearing record of Himself without have a second witness. In other words, it was a tradition among the Jews that you couldn’t just claim to be the Son of God, or a prophet or similar without having others also witness that what you said was true. Jesus countered by saying, “Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go” (John 8:14). In other words, Jesus told us that He had witnessed of Himself, and that his record was true. Later in the chapter, Jesus talked more about “truth”; he said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). A while later, during the last supper, Jesus proclaimed “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man can come unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). So, to tie those scriptures together, Jesus said He is “the truth”, and He also said if you know “the truth” (Himself), “the truth” shall make you free. So, as we believe in Jesus Christ, the light of the world, we shall be set free – free from the spiritual darkness that hinders our progress.
