Bible Video: Jesus Calls and Gives Power to His Twelve Apostles

Scripture: Matthew 10:1-11

In this video clip, Jesus calls his Twelve Apostles in Jerusalem and gives them power to cast out unclean spirits and to heal sickness. He also sent them forth to preach the gospel, cleanse lepers and raise the dead. Here are the names of the original Twelve Apostles: Peter, James, John, Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James the son of Alphæus, and Lebbæus, whose surname was Thaddæus, Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot.

More About this Video (continued from above)

In calling Twelve Apostles, Jesus established an order that would be a mark of His true Church ever after. As the Apostle Paul explained in Ephesians 2:20, the followers of Christ “are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone”.

Many people may ask, why aren’t there apostles and prophets today? Many people are not aware that there are apostles and prophets today and Jesus has re-established His Church again on the earth today. Jesus still guides and directs His Church and gives revelation to His current apostles and prophets who share it with the world.
