Bible Video: Who is Greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?

Scripture: Matthew 18:1-11

In this Bible video, Jesus’ disciples asked Him, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” They wanted to know what their position would be in the next life. Here, Jesus taught a lesson that is not easily forgotten. Jesus picked up a child and said, “Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3).

More About this Video: (continued from above)

As we glimpse back at at this story, the disciples of Jesus were trying to find out who would be the greatest or most powerful in the kingdom of heaven, and from Jesus’ answer, we learn a lot about heaven and the nature of those who will reside there. We learn that we must become converted (changed and committed to living the gospel), and become like a little child. What is a little child like? Little children are humble, meek, submissive and willing to submit to the situation their parents put them in (Mosiah 3:19).

Remember, to enter into the kingdom of heaven, we have to be like children. Let’s analyze the attributes of children. First comes humility. Being humble does not mean being weak. It means that we acknowledge our dependence on God and are willing to submit ourselves to His will. Remember the scripture in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths.” Next is the attribute of being meek. Being meek means that we are willing to follow the commandments of God. Submissive means that we are willing to do what God wants us to do. This is what the kingdom of heaven will be like. There will be many there who are kind, patient and loving. Let us be like that, so we will be comfortable in the kingdom of heaven.
